BUTTER MILK CORN BREAD
2 eggs 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. sifted flour 2/3 c. corn meal
2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt 1 c. butter ,milk
1/4 c. melted butter
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter and flour an 8" by 8" baking
dish. Sift and measure flour, sift again with all the dry ingredients.
mix sugar and butter milk stir until sugar is desolved, slowly add
the dry ingredients while stiring. Stir in melted butter, pour into
prepered baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes.

BAKING SODA BISCUITS
2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sour or butter milk
Sift then measure flour. Sift again with soda and salt. Rub or cut
shortening into the dry ingredients until the is as fine as cornmeal.
Add enough milk to make a soft dough. turn onto a floured bread board.
Knead slightly, roll to 11/2 in thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter.
pick up each biscuit with a fork and place on an ungreased cookie
sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

BAKING POWDER BISCIUTS
3 c. sifted flour 6 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt 3/4 tsp tarter
3 tsp sugar 1 c. milk
Sift and measure flour, sift again with salt, baking powder, and sugar.
stir in with milk and tarter, It should be a soft dough. roll out on a
floured bread board, knead lightly to 1/2" thick. Cut with floured
biscuit cutter. Pick up with a fork and put on an unfloured baking
sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 min.

BANANA NUT BREAD
2 C. flour 1 tsp. vanilla
1 C. sugar 3 bananas mashed with 1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt 1 C. chopped pecans
1/2 C. shortening 1/2 C. buttermilk
2 eggs.
Mix all ingredients except bananas and soda; add them last. Bake at
350 degrees in greased loaf pan for 1 hour.

DATE NUT BREAD
1 1/2 C. seeded dates chopped 1 C. sugar
1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt
1 C. Boiling water 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. melted shortening 2 C. flour
1 egg 2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 C. chopped pecans 1 tsp. vanilla
Mix dates, soda and boiling water. Let stand 5 min. Add rest of ingredients
and mix well. Pour into greased loaf pan and let stand for 15 min. Bake at
350 degrees for 50 min.

GARLIC BREAD STRATA FOR 4
4 C. 1" chunks day old italian bread 1/2 tsp. oregan leaves crushed
6 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 C. grated parmesan cheese 8 eggs
1 1/2 C. milk 1 clove garlic minced
1/2 TSP. salt
Place bread in greased 2 qt. casserole. In a small saucepan over med. heat
melt butter, stir in cheese, garlic, oregano and paprika, Pour over bread
and toss lightly until bread is evenly coated. Beat eggs, milk and salt,
pour over bread. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven until puffed. About
45 minutes.

MUSTARD GLAZED TUNA CUPS
2 7 oz. cans tuna, drained 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs slightly beaten 1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 C. milk 3 tsp. finely chopped celery
1/4 C. catsup 1/4 C. finely chopped onion
1 tbsp. melted butter 1 C. rolled oats
Mix all ingredients together and pour into muffin tins or cups. Top with
mustart sauce. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.

SLICKY BUNS
2 pkg. dry yeast 1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter
2 tsp salt 2 eggs beaten
1 c. cold water 8 c. flour
1 c. scalded milk
Dissolve dry yeast in the hot water. Add the sugar, salt & butter to the
scalded milk, stir until butter is melted. A the yeast mixture to the cold
water and beaten eggs, then mix in the milk, butter, sugar & salt. Now work
in the 8 c. of flour. Kneed until smooth. Grease bowl and top of dough. Let
rise once. Make into buns and let rise again. Bake at 350 for 25 min.
TOPPING FOR BUNS
1/4 lb. butter 2 c. brown sugar
1/3 c, milk 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Melt butter blend in milk, sugar & nuts. Put a tbsp in bottom of greesed
muffin tin and the rest on top before baking.
